Round Dance FAQs
What is Round Dance?
Also known as Choreographed Ballroom, Round Dance is a very easy and fun way to begin dancing. The dance styles are the same as Ballroom ~ Waltz, Cha Cha, etc, but the dance is choreographed so that you can learn a whole routine in only a few weeks. Dance moves are called out just before you dance them, so no memorizing is required.
Round Dance adds a neat element that typical ballroom dancing does not: since the dance is pre-choreographed, you are able to do moves that are perfectly timed to different elements in the music. If the music swells and slows briefly, then a dance step that rises and stretches is put into that place. If there is a syncopation or quick break in another part of the song, then aquick or holding step is taught.
How does a Round Dance party work?
At a Round Dance party, we will play the same songs that you have learned in the classes, along with the cues so that you can get through your routines from start to finish. It is a whole lot of fun!
Do I need a partner?
Because of the way that Round Dance is structured, we don't rotate in class, so coming with a partner is easiest. If you would like to start dancing, but don't have a partner, check out our Ballroom and Swing classes. They are the same dance styles, but the classes are designed to rotate often and you are able to dance with many different people.
